Church Restoration Project
Shettleston New Church has plans to further improve and develop our church buildings to make them more usable to our congregation and community. We know that there are few buildings in our area that are available for the benefit of local people. In 2012 we undertook a major refurbishment to provide better facilities such as more hall space, improved accommodation for the toddler groups, easier access for all, a café and a new kitchen. We have been able to achieve this thanks to the wonderful giving of members, friends and charitable funding organisations.
We still have work to do, including much needed repairs and improvements to the church itself. Thanks to the generosity of our members and significant financial contribution from organisations such as the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland, Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Environment Scotland, work is underway to replace the church roof, eradicate dry rot and repair badly damaged stonework. This first phase of restoration will be completed by the end of the summer of 2017.
Our grateful thanks are expressed to:
The General Trustees of the Church of Scotland
The Heritage Lottery Fund
Historic Environment Scotland
Scotland's Churches Trust
The Ferguson Bequest
The Baird Trust
The Bellahouston Bequest
Donations large and small are welcome. If you wish to donate to this appeal, cheques should be made payable to Shettleston New Church, or talk to one of the church members any Sunday. Thanks!
