Welcome to our BB page on the Shettleston New Church website

"The Object of the Boys' Brigade is the Advancement of Christ's Kingdom among boys, and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect, and all that tends towards

a true Christian manliness"

The Boys' Brigade as an organisation was founded in Glasgow on 4th October 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith. From this one Company formed in Scotland the BB has grown in to a worldwide movement having worked with millions of children and young people for well over a century.

The "94th" Glasgow, which is staffed entirely by volunteers, was formerly the 1st Shettleston Company before coming under the boundary of Greater Glasgow City.  The 1st Shettleston Company was linked to the nearby church building on Killin Street, formerly Shettleston Old Church of Scotland.

Shettleston New Church (formerly Eastbank Parish) used to be the home for the 262nd Glasgow Boys' Brigade Company, which has since stopped.

Our boys brigade company is for the boys who live in and around the Shettleston area and East End of Glasgow.

We usually meet weekly on a Friday night in the church halls of Shettleston New Church, which sits on the corner of Annick Street and Old Shettleston Road.  Activities are varied, from the traditional drill marching, to sports, arts and crafts, group challenges, community work and fund raising.

Every year we aim to have an Inspection night where family and friends can come and see the culmination of the years activities, and watch the prize giving and awards ceremony.

Due to the COVID pandemic we have been meeting online since April 2020  via "video conference software" as part of the BBatHome initiative. This has proved to be fun, entertaining and good fellowship.

See our Summer 2020 Newsletter here ->

Unfortunately the inability to meet in a physical sense had stopped our regular fund raising to pay for capitation fees, and other general costs.

In September 2020 launched our first gofundme page. The funds from this were used to finance face to face meetings, organised by staff on a weekly basis (meeting each Saturday) and foloowing Government guidelines.

If you would like to make a contribution, no matter how small, it would be gratefully received and put to good use for the sake of the boys.

Please click on the link below to head over to our Company GoFundMe page. thanks!

Our Senior Boys have also been raising awareness of the British Red Cross and the work they do across the UK.  They also started their own sponsored run/cycle to raise funds for the  BRC  A final total of £736.82 was reached including generous donations from the congregation of Shettleston New Church.
